CAS stands for Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. UK immigration rules require the University to sponsor your application for a student visa. You will need a CAS number to apply for a visa to allow you to study in the UK. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is an important document if you are planning to study in the UK. Your institution will also send a unique reference number that will match up with your CAS. You must mention this reference number on the Tier 4 visa application form. The visa official processing your application will check this number and corroborating document to confirm that you have an unconditional offer from the university.

Yes. The Graduate Route visa came into force in July 2021, allowing international students who have completed a degree at undergraduate level or above to stay in the UK to work or look for work for 2 years (Bachelor/Masters) or 3 years (PhD). It is possible to work at any skill level on this visa. Graduates will be able to switch into skilled work once they have found a suitable job. Your partner and children (‘dependants’) may be able to apply to come to the UK or stay longer in the UK.
You must be one of the following:
- a full-time student on a postgraduate level course (RQF level 7 or above)that lasts 9 months or longer
- a new government-sponsored student on a course that lasts longer than 6 months
- a Doctorate Extension Scheme student
